Baltimore, Md.—UMBC baseball returns to action this week after a 1-2 weekend against Mount St. Mary's and Hofstra. The Retrievers took down the Mountaineers 9-7 on Friday, before dropping 9-6 and 4-2 decisions to the Pride on Saturday and Sunday.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-UMBC returns to action this week after a 1-2 weekend against Mount St. Mary's and Hofstra. The Retrievers took down the Mountaineers 9-7 on Friday, before dropping 9-6 and 4-2 decisions to the Pride on Saturday and Sunday and sits at 2-9 on the year.

-Freshman Dmitri Floyd (Dover, Del.) leads the team with a .286 average and five RBI in 2018. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa.) is tops on the team with nine hits, sporting a .250 average. Senior Collin Stack (Jamestown, N.Y.) leads the team with a pair of doubles, one triple and one home run.

-On the mound, Chase Bailey (Fairfax, Va.) leads the rotation with a 5.17 ERA in three starts, leading the staff in innings pitched (15.2) with 11 strikeouts. Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md.) is the top man in the bullpen with a 1.35 ERA and 16 strikeouts and two saves.

Scouting the Tigers:

-Towson enters the matchup at 2-11, playing Delaware State on Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers were most recently swept by Ohio this past weekend by a combined five runs.

-Richie Palacios leads the Tigers in every major statistical category; including hits (19), average (.380), runs scored (17), doubles (7), home runs (3) and RBI (12). He is slugging .700 with five stolen bases and 35 total bases.

-On the hill, David Marriggi leads the staff with a 4.66 ERA and a 1-1 record in four starts this year. He has struck out 18 in 19.1 innings giving up 20 hits and 11 runs, ten earned.

All-Time Series:

-This will be the first of two meetings this year between the Tigers and Retrievers, and the 91st overall contest between the two. Towson leads the all-time series 49-40-1. Last year, Towson swept both meetings by scores of 7-3 (F/11) and 4-2.

On Deck:

-UMBC will return home to open conference play against Hartford on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday will be a double header starting at noon with a single game on Sunday at 3 p.m.
