Baltimore, Md.—The Retrievers will open the home portion of their schedule against Mount St. Mary's and Hofstra in the UMBC Tournament this Friday through Sunday. UMBC will play the Mountaineers on Friday, before finishing the weekend against Hofstra on Saturday and Sunday. MSM and Hofstra will meet on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Scouting the Retrievers:
-UMBC heads into the weekend at 1-7 after falling 5-2 to George Washington on Tuesday afternoon. The Retrievers' lone win this year came in the season opener against Penn State, 2-1. Zack Bright (Fairfax Station, Va./WT Woodson) and Mitchell Carroll (Oakton, Va./Oakton) led the way Tuesday with an RBI each.
-Chris Convers (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) leads the team offensively, batting .286 with a pair of hits. Raven Beeman (Somerset, Pa./Somerset), Dalton Stewart (Sharpsburg, Md./Boonsboro) and AJ Wright (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill West) lead the team with six hits each.
-Mitchell Wilson (Hagerstown, Md./St. James) leads the rotation with a 5.59 ERA, going 0-1 in two starts so far this year. Stephen Schoch (Laurel, Md./Appalachian State) leads the bullpen with a 1.93 ERA respectively. He leads the staff with 10 strikeouts.
Scouting the Mountaineers:
-The Mountaineers come into the weekend at 3-5 overall after a 4-3 victory against Georgetown last Saturday in Florida. Sean Kelly and Thomas Savastio lead the Mount St. Mary's offense batting .391 and .345 respectively. Savastio leads the team with 10 hits, while Kelly has three doubles, one triple and one home run.
-On the mound, Trey McGough leads the rotation with a 1.38 ERA going 1-1 in two starts with one complete game. He has thrown 13.0 innings, striking out nine.
Scouting the Pride:
-The Pride head to Baltimore at 5-2 out of the CAA, most recently sweeping MEAC foe Norfolk State this past weekend. Vito Friscia leads the team with a .400 average, starting in every game for the Pride. He has a team best ten hits, one home run and three RBI. Rob Weissheier leads the team with five RBI.
-John Rooney leads the pitching staff with a 0.00 ERA in two starts and 1-0 record. He has thrown 14 innings with a team best 18 strikeouts and just two walks.
-UMBC and Mount St. Mary's will be meeting for the 94th time with the series dating back to 1970. The Retrievers lead the series 70-22-1. UMBC has dominated the series of late, winning 11 of the last 12 meetings with the lone loss coming in 2016.
-The Retrievers and Pride will be meeting for just the 12th time in the all-time series, with UMBC leading 10-1. The lone loss came in 1991 and the two have not met since 2000.
-UMBC will travel up I-695 to take on local-rival Towson on Wednesday, March 14. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m.
