Baltimore, Md.—UMBC men's soccer takes their three game win streak to New Hampshire as they kick off America East play on Friday night against the Wildcats. The Retrievers sit at 4-1-3 on the year after earning a 2-1 overtime victory against La Salle last Saturday. Sophomore Patrick Jean-Gilles (Woodbridge, Va./South County) scored the game winner in the 96th minute to lift the Retrievers.

Scouting the Retrievers:

-UMBC earned their third straight victory in a 2-1 overtime win against La Salle on Saturday. Sophomore Patrick Jean-Gilles scored on a screamer from 30 yards out in the extra session to give the Dawgs the victory.

-Freshman Tre Pulliam (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley) leads the team with four goals on the season, adding an assist for nine points. He is one of three Retrievers to score multiple times, as Sammy Kahsai (Hyattsville, Md./Northwestern), Christian Morales (Gaithersburg, Md./Frederick), and Jean-Gilles have netted two a piece for UMBC.

-Billy Heavner (Landisville, Md./Hempfield) has started every game in net for UMBC, going 4-1-3 on the year. Heavner has made 28 saves for a save percentage of .757. He has allowed nine goals for a goals against average of 1.01 with two shutouts.

Scouting the Wildcats:

-New Hampshire enters the Friday matchup at 8-1 overall, winners of their last four. Most recently the Wildcats knocked up Northeastern and Yale by scores of 3-0 last week. Chris Arling and Jack Dickson earned America East Player and Rookie of the Week honors for UNH. 

-Arling leads the Wildcat attack, netting nine goals with an assist for 19 points in 2016. Dickson is second on the team with five goals and two helpers for a total of 12 points, as four Wildcats have scored multiple goals.

-Andrew Pesci has played every minute in between the pipes for New Hampshire, garnering an 8-1 record. He has made 31 saves, allowing just seven goals for a save percentage of .816 and goals against average of 0.78 with four shutouts.

Attendance Counts:

-UMBC currently ranks 20th in attendance in the NCAA, averaging 1,258 fans at Retriever Soccer Park for matches. A total of 7,546 fans have flocked to Baltimore to see the Retrievers this year.

America East One of the Top Dogs:

-The America East Conference is ranked fourth in RPI among NCAA Division I conferences. The America East is just below the ACC, Pac 12, and Big East.

-The league had a .710 win percentage entering this week, second only to the ACC.

-Five teams are ranked in the top 50 in RPI with UMass Lowell (25), Albany (36), Vermont (38), New Hampshire (45), and UMBC (46) making the cut.

All-Time Series:

-UMBC and New Hampshire will be meeting for the 18th time in the all-time series, with the Retrievers holding a 7-4-6 record.

-The Retrievers have had the upper hand in in the series, winning the most recent meeting in the AE Quarterfinals last November, 1-0. UMBC is unbeaten in the last ten, going 5-0-5 dating back to 2009.

-The last meeting between the two was last year, where the Explorers shut out the Retrievers in Baltimore.
