Men's Distance Medley Relay Team Breaks School Record as UMBC Track and Field Competes at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA-- The UMBC outdoor track and field teams competed at the Penn Relays this weekend in Philadelphia, Pa. with the men's distance medley team setting a school record.

The team of senior Josh Okoniewski (Lusby, Md./Patuxent), junior Dominic Devaud (Baltimore, Md./Archbishop Curley), sophomore Michael Christmas (Invercargill, New Zealand/James Hargest College) and senior Anthony Kelhower (Mt. Laurel, NJ/Lenape) finished in 10:05.86, over 14 seconds faster than the previous record.

The men's 4x200-meter relay team of freshman Joshua Hewitson (New Market, Md./Linganore) and juniors Adrian Arthur (Bowie, Md./Bowie), Jason Powell (Bowie, Md./Eleanor Roosevelt) and Antonio Thomas (Columbia, Md./Long Reach) earned bronze in a time of 1:25.06. 

The men's 4x100-meter relay team of juniors Mohamed Koroma (Mitchelville, Md./C.H. Flowers/Morgan State), Arthur, Powell and Thomas finished in 40.98, good enough for fourth place. To see video of the Retrievers in the 4x100, click here.

The Retrievers return to action next weekend for the America East Championships, held at Binghamton University on May 1st and 2nd.
