Teanick, NJ-The Retriever women's soccer team (2-5, 1-2) ended a four-game losing streak with a 4-0 shutout win over Fairleigh Dickinson University this afternoon. Sophomore Jessa Karko provided all the scoring UMBC would need, as she headed in Missy Moore's shot which rebounded off of FDU netminder Megan McDonnell at the 14:26 mark. The Retrievers held a 1-0 lead at halftime, when Moore would score at 64:31, converting a feed from linemate Nicole Grinspoon. Just 1:28 later, the Retrievers scored an own goal, and freshman Roula Adams capped the scoring, collecting her first collegiate score on a 20-yard blast at 79:35. Netminders Becky Hicock and Kelly Lizon shared the shutout, with the former making one save in the first 76 minutes. UMBC dominated the shooting column, with a 21-1 advantage. The Retrievers return to action on Sunday with a 12:00 game at Monmouth.
